Galataport Istanbul
An underground cruise terminal
About Galataport Istanbul
Galataport describes its terminal as the world’s first underground cruise ship terminal: a hatch system closes off a temporary customs area only while a ship is berthed, keeping the promenade open to the public. Passport control, customs, taxis, tour buses and parking for 2,400 vehicles are all underground, and the terminal, designed by Autoban, can take three ships and 15,000 passengers a day (galataport.com). See our Istanbul guide.
