About Glacier Bay National Park

The National Park Service says cruise ships do not dock anywhere in Glacier Bay. They usually spend nine to ten hours in the bay with a stop at a major tidewater glacier; rangers board to give talks and run an information desk with the park’s cancellation stamp and an Alaska Geographic bookstore. Ships enter Johns Hopkins Inlet only in late summer, after the harbour-seal protections end.

Why it's on our list

  • No docking: a full day of scenic cruising
  • NPS rangers and Junior Ranger activities aboard
  • Johns Hopkins Inlet only in late summer

Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with Glacier Bay National Park before you go.
