Civitavecchia: the Port of Rome
Rome’s port since AD 108
About Civitavecchia: the Port of Rome
The Port Network Authority of the Central-Northern Tyrrhenian Sea runs Civitavecchia, Fiumicino and Gaeta, and its own site recalls Trajan’s foundation of the port in AD 108 as the ‘porta di Roma’ (portidiroma.it). The cruise terminals are run by Roma Cruise Terminal, and Port Mobility runs the shuttle that carries passengers through the large port area to Largo della Pace, where the buses to the railway station and to Rome leave. Allow plenty of time for a day in Rome.
Why it's on our list
- Shuttle to Largo della Pace
- Trains to Rome from Civitavecchia station
