About Cape Floral Region Protected Areas

UNESCO inscribed the Cape Floral Region in 2004 and later extended it. Its national parks, nature reserves and mountain catchments protect the fynbos, a fine-leaved shrubland found nowhere else, and Table Mountain and Kirstenbosch are within easy reach of the pier.

Why it's on our list

  • Fynbos found nowhere else
  • Table Mountain within the protected areas
  • One of the world’s six floral kingdoms

Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with Cape Floral Region Protected Areas before you go.
