About SeaDream Yacht Club: the back story

Atle Brynestad founded Seabourn Cruise Line in 1987 and later chaired Cunard. In 2001 he founded SeaDream Yacht Club with the twin yachts SeaDream I and SeaDream II, and the company, still family-owned, marked 25 years in 2026.

A founder’s second act

Atle Brynestad founded Seabourn Cruise Line in 1987 and went on to chair Cunard Line and sit on the board of Carnival Corporation. In 2001 he started again on a smaller scale, founding SeaDream Yacht Club with two twin yachts. He remains its owner and chairman, and the company is family-owned; it marked its 25th year in 2026.

Two yachts, one style

SeaDream I and SeaDream II are identical: 112 guests, 95 crew, and 56 staterooms and suites, every one facing the sea. Both completed keel-to-mast renovations in 2024. The whole yacht can be chartered for a celebration.

Smaller is more personal.

Everything on deck

Life on a SeaDream yacht happens outside. Breakfast and lunch are served on deck whenever the weather allows, dinner is open seating in the Dining Salon or al fresco at the Topside Restaurant, and the Balinese Dream Beds on Deck 6, made up with Belgian linens, can be turned down for a night under the stars. In the evening there is the Top of the Yacht Bar, the Piano Bar and Starlit Movies on the pool deck.

The open bar and the marina

The fare covers more than most: an open bar with select spirits and a daily choice of wines, gratuities, and the watersports marina that folds down from the stern, with kayaks, paddleboards, sailing dinghies, snorkelling gear and wave runners. In the Caribbean, the yacht’s Champagne & Caviar Splash brings caviar and Champagne to guests in the surf.

Where they sail

The twins winter in the Caribbean, among the British Virgin Islands and St Barths, and spend summer in the Mediterranean, from the Greek islands and Ephesus to the French Riviera, the Amalfi Coast and Spain, with voyages also to the British Isles, the Norwegian fjords and beyond.

The third yacht

SeaDream III is scheduled for delivery in 2029, with a guest-to-staff ratio of nearly one to one and late stays and overnights built into her itineraries. Her first season has not yet been announced.

Our advice: book a Caribbean voyage for the Splash, and spend at least one night out on a Dream Bed.
