The Zanzibar Ports Corporation describes Malindi Port as the busiest passenger terminal in the East African region, with about 1.5 million passengers a year, and a quay of 240 metres for large foreign-going vessels. A new passenger terminal is under development at Maruhubi. Zanzibar Tourism notes that some cruise ships anchor or dock here occasionally.
