About Aman at Sea: the back story
Aman at Sea is a new yacht line operating under licence from The Aman Group. Its first yacht, Amangati, is under construction at T. Mariotti in Genoa and sets sail in spring 2027.
A hotel name built on calm
For guests of Aman’s resorts, the name has always stood for space, quiet and a certain restraint. Aman at Sea sets out to carry that calm onto the water. The line is operated by Positive Ocean OpCo Ltd, trading as Aman at Sea, which uses the Aman marks under licence from The Aman Group, and its first yacht is registered in Malta.
Peaceful motion
The yacht’s name, Amangati, is Sanskrit for “peaceful motion”. She is a motor yacht being built at T. Mariotti in Genoa, with exterior and interior design led, in the line’s credits, by the studio Sinot. There are 47 suites for 94 guests, each with a private terrace, floor-to-ceiling windows, ceilings of up to 2.5 metres and a bathroom with a soaking tub.
Amangati welcomes just 94 guests.
A spa on two floors
At the heart of the yacht is the Aman Spa, which Aman at Sea describes as the largest spa in luxury yachting. It is built over two storeys around a Japanese serenity garden, with eight ocean-facing treatment suites, each with a terrace and whirlpool bath, a hammam and a banya. Above it, a Yoga & Meditation Deck has two shallow Sea Pools, port and starboard.
Four kitchens
Dining follows the seasons and the coast. Alira is an open-air Mediterranean restaurant that takes its menu from each port; Hiori is a teppanyaki table; Akari serves washoku and an omakase menu; and Aman Grill cooks over open fire. After dinner there is a Jazz Club, a Cigar Lounge and the smoke-forward cocktails of the bar beside the grill.
The first seasons
Amangati sets sail in spring 2027 with an inaugural season in the Mediterranean, along the Côte d’Azur, the Italian Riviera, the Aegean and the Adriatic. In autumn 2027 she crosses the Atlantic westbound, then spends her first winter in the Caribbean, with twelve new voyages to the Dominican Republic, Martinique, Guadeloupe and the Grenadines, before an eastbound crossing in spring 2028. The line notes that features and itineraries are proposed and may change before the yacht enters service.
Our advice: if you can, take the Atlantic Passage. With no fixed schedule, long days at sea and a two-storey spa, it is the voyage that shows Amangati at her most Aman.
